Re-authorization of the Child Nutrition Act must now be approved by the House before authorization for the legislation currently in place expires.

The Senate's funding method is a bit like picking the pocket of one panhandler to put it in the hand of another. Yet the mainstream media has hailed these measly 6 cents as the first increase in the subsidized lunch reimbursement rate in three decades -- a false notion.

Apparently, no one in the press has actually bothered to read the rules governing the school meals program. If they had, they'd know that the disputed 6 cents are barely more than what the National School Lunch Program receives automatically each year by way of cost of living increases. This year, in fact, the reimbursement rate has already gone up 4 cents -- from $2.68 per lunch to $2.72 -- thanks to an adjustment in the Consumer Price Index.

Granted, school kitchens are broke and have been for a long time. According to the School Nutrition Association, schools that rely on the federal reimbursements to pay their expenses lose 35 cents on average with every lunch they serve, which helps explain why they feed kids sweetener-stuffed snacks instead of real food in order to comply with the USDA's calorie requirements.

The 6 cent increase would be laughable if it weren't so tragic. But more important in this stalled legislation is a provision that would, for the first time, give the USDA authority to regulate all foods sold in schools, possibly meaning an end -- finally -- to so-called "competitive foods," such as sugary drinks and candy in school vending machines and ice cream bars and fruit rollups in the deli line. That would go a long way toward addressing the obesity epidemic that Michelle Obama has pledged to end.

So I say, Keep your 6 cents. Let the nation's lunch ladies do what they've been doing for years that Congress can't -- live with what they've got. Congress can then continue doing what it does best -- spending money we don't have on wars we don't need. Somehow, the kids will survive.

Not like we need another reason to like Jillian Michaels, but this is just another reason to like Jillian Michaels.

The Biggest Loser trainer recently teamed up with Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to ask her fans to support the Improving Nutrition for America’s Children Act — a bill that would help schools serve more fruits, vegetables, and plant-based meal options.

“I’m the tough trainer on The Biggest Loser and Losing It with Jillian, and I am passionate about helping people reach a healthy weight,” says Michaels. “But I’m writing to you with a request that just might put me out of business. I want you to help fight childhood obesity so that fewer people will need to go through the difficult process of shedding excess pounds. More than a third of America’s children are now overweight or obese.”

Michaels is asking everyone to contact their member of congress and ask him or her to vote in support of the Improving Nutrition for America’s Children Act. Luckily, contacting your representative is so super simple with PCRM’s quick and easy form.

We’re excited to see so many stars coming out to support this wonderful bill and have our fingers crossed it gets passed. Because honestly, who doesn’t want America’s youth eating healthier food? My success story is a testament to the effectiveness of Tae Bo workouts. Billy Blanks' Bootcamp is an outstanding workout DVD series that will leave you sculpted and toned. You can get into the best shape of your life with Tae Bo workouts, and have a great time doing it. Billy Blanks' Bootcamp series is among the best workouts in the extensive Tae Bo collection.

Like many, I discovered Billy Blanks' years ago during late night infomercials--and it's one of the best stumbles in my long history of channel surfing. I have purchased a plethora of infomercial products--Topsy Twirl, Ab Roller, Egg Wave (one of the worst), etc. Like I had been many times before, I was sucked in by the sales pitch, and I went ahead and ordered my first three Tae Bo videos. At this time in my life, I was about forty pounds overweight, and I was desperate to shed the pounds and get fit. Tae Bo was the answer. Billy Blanks' Bootcamp was not the first in Tae Bo collection that I bought, but it has been by far the best and most rigorous and challenging workout I have experienced (Tae Bo and otherwise).

Within five months of beginning my Tae Bo Billy Blanks' Bootcamp DVD workouts, I had dropped the forty pounds that had been weighing me down for the better part of two years. I started out with the "Bootcamp Basic Training" video. The Billy Blanks' Bootcamp series came with flexibility bands, but when I first started the workouts, I wasn't strong enough to complete the 55-minute training video with them on. It probably took about two and a half months before I got through that entire workout with the bands on. It's a tough workout--it is a test of your strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness--but you can follow at your own pace. Just remember not to let yourself get into a comfort zone--always push yourself to work harder, kick high, and flex your muscles more while you do the workouts.

When you finish a Tae Bo workout, you feel like you have really accomplished something--and you'll be right. I always feel like my muscles are more toned. Billy Blanks' Bootcamp workouts are incredible calorie burners. In my opinion, Tae Bo is as good or better than working out on any piece of gym equipment--and I have never felt as though I got as intense a workout from any other exercise video (and trust me, I have done tons of exercise videos).

I attribute my successful weight loss to a combination of developing healthier eating habits and doing Billy Blanks' Bootcamp Tae Bo workouts. Tae Bo was my sole exercise routine throughout my diet. I generally do Tae Bo about three to five times a week, and throughout my diet, I consistently lost more than a pound every week, never hitting a plateau. The Bootcamp series that I purchased came with "Ultimate Botcamp," "Ab Bootcamp," and a 30-minute "Cardio Bootcamp Live" DVD, which is great when you are short on time and want to burn the most calories possible in a hurry. "Ultimate" is really hard to get through--I still have a hard time getting through this one without needing a few extra-long water breaks to catch my breath.

I can't say enough good things about Billy Blanks' Bootcamp videos. I have an exercise bike, treadmill, weight bench, and elliptical machine at home, and they just sit around collecting dust because none of them can provide me with as complete an exercise routine as Tae Bo can. There are so many videos to choose from--in addition to the Bootcamp series. I recommend getting an array of Tae Bo workouts so that you don't get bored. Visit www.billyblanks.com for more information and to see the complete line of Tae Bo videos and products. You've got nothing to lose--except that extra weight and those unsightly love handles! Good luck at Billy Blanks' Bootcamp!

references:
weight bench
Top Weight Bench

Yankees What Happened To Our Don?

Joe Torre is undoubtedly one of the most successful managers in sports history. Starting as a manager for the Yankees in 1996, Torre went on to manage the team for 12 straight years, bringing them to the playoffs in each year. Also add in four championships.

At the end of the 2007 season, Joe Girardi took over as the Yankees manager, and Torre went on to manage the Dodgers. Three years later, he has announced that he will be stepping down as manager of the Dodgers in 2011, and will hand over the job to Don Mattingly.

Here are the top five lowest points of Joe Torre's illustrious career.

Joe Torre shockingly announced he will retire from the Los Angeles Dodgers, and hands the reins to successor Don Mattingly today with two weeks left in the regular season.

It's a move that caught everyone by surprise considering that the Dodgers may want to interview others such as Tim Wallach, but nevertheless Mattingly is the incoming manager while Torre is nothing but a lame duck on the West Coast.

This offseason is promising to be quite the boiling one when it comes to managers and vacant team openings. As for Joe Torre, where will he end up going next season?

You can bet he'll end up with a big market team with a playoff bound roster that is destined for the World Series. Remember he is retiring from the Dodgers, not baseball, so whether he is or isn't we look at Torre's possible destinations this offseason.

<br Just about every bar in town claims to be a sports bar, but only a few truly are. Here is a list of some of the sports bars I have been to that I would recommend.

Scruffy Duffy’s located at 753 8th Avenue (Between 46th and 47th Streets). This is where the after work crowd goes to see the game. They have a half a dozen TV’s including several flat screens and one projection TV. No matter where you turn, you can see the game. They have plenty of beers to choose from and a pool table. It fills up quickly; so unless you get there early don’t expect to get a seat at the bar.

ESPN Zone located at 1472 Broadway right in the heart of Times Square. Well since this place is owned by ESPN, you know you will be able to see just about every game there is. They even have TV’s in the bathroom. However this place tends to be on the pricey side and is very touristy.

Riviera Sports Bar and Café located at 225 West 4th Street. This is the only bar in town where Yankee fans are not welcome. This place is known as a Red Sox bar.

Foley’s New York located at 18 West 33rd Street right next to the Empire State Building. If you love baseball this is the place to be, the entire bar is decorated with baseball pictures and memorabilia. Players from the Mets and Yankees as well as other teams often frequent this place after the game. They have plenty of TV’s and a nice beer selection.

Nevada Smith’s located at 74 3rd Avenue (Between 11th and 12th Street). This is the place to go if you want to watch European Football or soccer for those of us in the states. The crowds really get into the games with their singing and chanting. The games are shown live so the doors open as early as 7:00 AM.

Gin Mill located at 442 Amsterdam Avenue and 81st Street. With over fifteen televisions, there is always a game to watch. This is a great place to go on a Sunday afternoon to watch all the NFL games.

Third and Long located at 523 Third Avenue at 35th Street. A great place to meet after work as the prices are reasonable and there are plenty o TV’s to watch the game.

O’Hanlon’s Bar located at 349 East 14th Street (Between 1st and 2nd Avenue). This place has a good old-fashioned corner bar atmosphere. You can watch the game, play pool or throw darts. There is a distinct Irish flavor to the place and they pour a great pint of Guinness.

Molly Wee located at 402 8th Avenue. Located just outside of Madison Square Garden, if you are going to the game this is great place to meet beforehand. Many people also come in after the game to celebrate a victory or drown their sorrows.

I Love The Summer Season

Whether you are relaxing on a lawn chair soaking up some sun, emerging your hands in rich gardening soil, or organizing outdoor furniture, a patio is the perfect place to display your favorite selection of flowers. The best flowers to plant around a patio are those that have blooming qualities and thrive during the heat of the summer. Patio flowers should only be planted or potted outdoors once the danger of frost has passed. Strategic placement of these flowers in transitional areas that include periods of shade and periods of direct sunlight will help you have a patio floral design that lasts all season long. Adequate watering, mild fertilization, and proper planting techniques are essential ingredients for a successful patio garden. The following list of flowers provides you with some of the best examples of patio plants that can be used to create a beautiful and illustrious patio design.

#1 Dipladenia

This best pick for a patio design offers red and pink colored blooms that are beautifully displayed in a vine like fashion. Dipladenia is a great flowering patio plant for a climate that experiences a long Indian summer. Due to its love for light, it is best kept on a patio area where it receives direct sun exposure.

#2 Gardenias

Gardenias are luscious patio plants that have extremelyfragrant flowers. These can be used as landscaping shrubs or as patio accents. They seem to thrive best when cool evening temperatures set the stage for blooming buds. These hearty flowering plants tolerate lightly shady outdoor conditions.

#3 Hosta

This flowering plant is not often considered a blooming variation because the small purple flowers do not appear until late in the season. However, the intensely variegated foliage and dramatic leaf shape make them a fine contribution to a patio design. This blooming plant does best in areas where it receives a vital portion of shade. Hosta tends to grow quickly, so a plant that measures one-foot in diameter usually measures two or three feet by the end of the season.

#4 Oleander

If your patio needs a bright burst of color, the oleander could be the perfect fit for your patio design. The unique foliage is visually stunning, and the intensely bright pink flowers will certainly catch your eye. Due to the fact that this flowering plant has been reported to be poisonous, make sure that you place it in a patio area that is clear of pets and young children.

#5 Hibiscus

Hibiscus plants have large single and double flowering blossoms that come in a variety of colors including pink, peach, red, yellow, and white. The intensely variegated foliage provides a soft color contrast with the flowers and other patio accessories. The gorgeous blooms are eye stopping, but each bloom only lasts for approximately one day.

#6 Impatients

Impatients are one of the best flowers to plant around a patio because they survive well in areas that receive some shade. Potting these flowers allows you to place them on an umbrella covered patio table or under a shaded tree. Impatients also come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes that include double blooms, oversized blossoms, and miniature versions. The color range varies from pure white to deep purple and every hue of red and pink in between.

#7 Lantana

Lantana is known for its strong adaptation to areas that receive full sunlight, so it makes for a healthy patio addition. The best flowers to plant around a patio are often those that can also be pruned and used as a potted plant such as this one. The fruity fragrance and pretty floral clusters in orange, white, pink, and yellow make it a lovely patio accessory. If you carefully prune the dead blooms from the plant, you will increase the intensity of the blooming season.

#8 Geraniums

Geraniums may not be the most unique patio flowers, but they tend to hold up well in adverse weather conditions. Their hearty nature and mild drought tolerance allows them to thrive in patio areas where they receive a combination of shade and sunlight. One of the best qualities of Geraniums is their versatile color range. The blooms come in shades that include: red, white, light pink, hot pink, fuscia, watermelon, coral, purple and salmon.

#9 Tibouchina

Tibouchina has amazingly beautiful deep purple flowers. Their dynamic appearance makes them one of the most eye-popping alternatives for a patio design. Due to the exotic nature of the foliage and the extreme qualities of the blooms, it is important for the Tibouchina to stay well watered. In addition, patio areas that receive a portion of shade during the hottest parts of the day will allow your Tibouchina to thrive and flourish.

#10 Jasmine

Jasmine comes in a wide assortment of varieties with the Angel wing being one of the easiest to grow. Because of its stellar fragrance and pointy flower shape, Jasmine is one of the most attractive additions to a patio design. I have also published two blog post for several weeks. You need more articles and blog post. After all the ideas of topics you a long time and now it seems that you're exhausted just sit and look at the word processor to monitor a complete picture to appear. You write some other items that you need lots of ideas. Well coach, what should I do now. Let me try three things that flow of ideas. These three things are in front of you when you strike the keys right on your computer. 1. Amazon.com type in the address bar of your browser. What makes Amazon.com so legal steroids for sale useful as a research tool for new ideas is the database of books. There are thousands of great ideas is that if you only know how to use. Find the search engine and books to choose from the menu. Enter your specialty or niche blog and look for books with the information contained in the title. Depending on the steroids for sale results they could find the most important keywords. Your search could have listed hundreds of books on the subject. Browsing through buy steroids the book and write as many "ideas" that are. You should have a long list. Change the string to say: "Article Marketing" on "Bum Marketing" will give anabolic steroids for sale more ideas. Look for the various subcategories of books written benefit makeup on the topic, identification of various themes, styles and types. 2. Visit your favorite forums for your area of interest. Check the items on weight benches the post on the forum. The theme of the forum to bring a large range of participation figure coach is about an article. One good thing about a forum with a long thread of comments discount supplements is that a lot of your research topic is to write the article in to post a comment. I am not advocating plagiarism for the content. While reading the comments and notes is not plagiarism. I think that in general is very interesting and instructive. I usually end spend more time reading forum posts and comments, which I had expected. What is the time I wanted something else to do eliminated. In general, there are several forums in their area of interest. Search in various forums, not only offers more ideas for plus size swimwear stories, but it could also be additional research material for your articles. In addition, there is a whole education. 3. Visit a popular article directory. Ezineartilces seems a very popular directory. There are other great article directories with legal steroids for sale an Internet search can be found. Item lists files into categories. Find the category of your interest and look at the recent deposit. Check the categories of products related items is still available. Note that you do not want to copy the title of the article. Would you like some ideas. See the titles of articles may have ideas on how to build your section titles. I mean, above all, what are the titles of "How", "5 Ways", "easy and fun", etc. These three idea-generators under article is used by many authors of articles. They are also issues that are of current interest. A book with a subject line drawing by writing about a topic of current interest in Head Start in the marketing of your article.

I Cant Wait For Summer

Neosho, MO is slightly limited on clothing stores.
